Valiant effort by the 49ers in their 30-27 loss to the Giants. However, the 49ers lost a tight game because their coaches let them down. Here’s why.
-The 49ers had no business throwing a pass with 1:54 left on first-and-goal from the Giants’ 2. With the incompletion, they ran off five seconds. They could have run off 35 more seconds by running. At that point, two things happen; either the Giants have to call timeout, or they let you score so they preserve the time to score themselves. The 49ers were too anxious to get the touchdown. Coaches need to have patience and run the clock.
