The 49ers didn’t claim any players off waivers today (and none of their recently released players were claimed), meaning the remaining roster drama, such as it is, involves the practice squad.
The 49ers have started filling out their 10-man practice squad and it will include quarterback Dylan Thompson, an undrafted rookie from South Carolina who spent the offseason as the third-stringer behind Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert. The 49ers did not have another quarterback on their 90-man roster.
Players on the practice squad can be signed at any time to another team’s 53-man roster.
