The San Francisco 49ers seem to be on the cusp of something great after not making the playoffs since 2013. At the end of last season, one had to look much harder for a silver lining like the ones that existed when the 2017 season came to an end.

Trading for EDGE Dee Ford, drafting EDGE Nick Bosa at No. 2 overall and signing linebacker Kwon Alexander to a free-agent contract, were just a few a the moves the team made on defense after the new league year began last March.
