It appears a number of people are still not over the Seattle Seahawks’ final offensive possession against the San Francisco 49ers last week, one of them being (unsurprisingly) Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
After Seahawks tight end Jacob Hollister collided with 49ers linebacker Fred Warner on an incomplete pass thrown on third down from the 49ers’ six-yard line, armchair officials everywhere were up in arms that there was no penalty called for defensive pass interference. NFL Senior VP of officiating Al Riveron said after the game that the league actually did look at the play while Seattle was in the huddle prior to fourth down, and concluded there was not enough to the stop the game and initiate a full review since Hollister is the one who initiated the contact.
