A tumultuous 2016 season just got worse for Andy Lee.
The former 49ers punter was placed on season-ending injured reserve by the Panthers on Monday after pulling his hamstring in Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
The injury comes nearly three months after the Cleveland Browns traded Lee to Carolina due to failing to attempt to make a tackle on a punt return in an exhibition game.
Lee spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the 49ers and was a three-time All-Pro while in San Francisco.
Lee's tenure with the 49ers came to an end on June 6, 2015 when he was traded to Cleveland for a 2017 seventh-round pick.
