It’s certainly been a rough start to a pivotal season for the San Francisco 49ers, but one anonymous NFL executive thinks the team should go to extremes to fix it.

In his weekly day-after-games column, the Athletic’s Mike Sando quotes anonymous NFL executives on a variety of league topics. The center of Monday’s column was the 49ers’ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, in which they also may have lost wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a season-ending knee injury.

While all of the executives who spoke on the Niners expressed concerns, one took a nosedive into the hot take volcano when it came to quarterback Brock Purdy and the upcoming extension he’s due after this season (which is likely going to end up with Purdy making about $60 million per year).
