San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen isn’t a new face, as safety Talanoa Hufanga explained. Sorensen has worked closely with the secondary in recent seasons. But the 49ers have a pair of players expected to contribute on the back end this year who weren’t around in 2023.
The team signed Isaac Yiadom during free agency from the New Orleans Saints and drafted Renardo Green in the second round out of Florida State. Training camp, injuries, and early-season experimentation will determine how often each will play throughout the season.
According to Sorensen, Green is playing both nickel and outside cornerback:
