The San Francisco 49ers may not have signed the free-agent target many fans were hoping for, now-Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas. But grabbing edge rusher Dee Ford, linebacker Kwon Alexander and running back Tevin Coleman isn’t exactly a terrible haul for the red and gold.
Ford, in particular, helps address arguably the Niners’ biggest offseason need: the pass rush. A year after posting a career-high 13.0 sacks, Ford should be a massive difference maker for a 49ers defense that finished 2018 tied for 22nd with just 37 sacks in total.
