A year ago at this time, the San Francisco 49ers pulled off a blockbuster deal just ahead of the 2017 NFL trade deadline.
That move, of course, was picking up quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from the New England Patriots in exchange for a second-round NFL Draft pick this year.
The Niners were winless at that point, not far unlike where the 2018 49ers are right now. With a 1-7 record at the halfway point of the season, it’s highly unlikely last year’s massive deal finds some sort of repeat incident when the 2018 deadline draws to a close.
