The San Francisco 49ers have selected Boston College offensive lineman Ian Silberman with their sixth round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He brings the 49ers haul to eight total players into day three.
Silberman played guard, but according to the NFL.com scouting report, he is better suited at guard. That makes perfect sense for a 49ers team looking to replace Mike Iupati this year, and probably Alex Boone next year. Brandon Thomas will likely take over at left guard this fall, and Silberman would compete for a starting role in 2016.
