The NFL Owners approved a new rule at the Spring Meetings in San Francisco on Tuesday that will greatly affect the San Francisco 49ers and all other NFL teams with every single touchdown. Extra points will now be kicked from the 15 yard line. Thus, all extra points will now be 32 or 33 yards long, depending on the distance behind center a given kicker prefers to kick from.
In 2013, kickers converted 99.6% of extra points. This incredibly high conversion percentage made this an almost automatic play, prompting the NFL owners to consider changes to the extra point to make this play more interesting.
