NFC West: Seahawks cutting cornerback Richard Sherman means an end of an era

The NFC West is surely going through some strange times.

Gone are the days when the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks reigned supreme in arguably the toughest division in the NFL. One of these two teams were going to be Super Bowl favorites. And that rivalry was marked by more than a few individual personalities.

Perhaps none more vilified than Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman. At least not by 49ers fans.

Sherman, of course, was cut by Seattle Friday. It wasn’t a huge shock, per se. The Seahawks have largely been dismantling the same core of players that helped them reach the playoffs five straight years starting in 2012.
