Five years ago, 49ers quarterback Blaine Gabbert was all wet in his NFL starting debut.
On Sept. 25, 2011, Gabbert, then a rookie with the Jaguars, threw for 139 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception in a rain-drenched 16-10 loss at Carolina. Asked for his impressions of the No. 10 pick after the game, Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew said Gabbert had a good performance, “considering it was a hurricane.”
On Thursday, Gabbert’s recollections were all weather-related when the game was mentioned.
“They had like hurricane weather and the water was overflowing that top bowl,” Gabbert said.
