Jim Tomsula informed media on Monday that the San Francisco 49ers were going to bring in a quarterback for a workout on Monday. It turns out, it's an old friend. 49ers beat writers reporting the team has signed quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson to the practice squad.
The move comes following the team's decision to place Colin Kaepernick on injured reserve, and promote rookie Dylan Thompson to the 53-man roster. Thompson served as the team's backup quarterback against the Seattle Seahawks. Thompson would potentially be added to the 53-man roster later this week, or the team could sign a veteran to the roster on Tuesday before full practices get going.
