ESPN has been teasing its pass-block and pass-rush win rate for most of the offseason. After a month of football, they released the data they’ve been collecting. Here’s how they describe the stat:
Our Pass Block Win Rate metric tells us the rate at which linemen can sustain their blocks for 2.5 seconds or longer. Likewise, our Pass Rush Win Rate metric tells us how often a pass-rusher is able to beat his block within 2.5 seconds. Our model of pass blocking harnesses player tracking data from NFL Next Gen Stats.
We’ve discussed how the San Francisco 49ers need to stop the Cleveland Browns running game — slowing down Myles Garrett and company just as, if not more critical.
