The 49ers agreed to terms with free-agent running back Tim Hightower, general manager John Lynch announced Saturday morning.
Hightower, 30, appeared in 16 games for the New Orleans Saints last season. He rushed for 548 yards and four touchdowns on 133 attempts for a 4.1-yard average. He also caught 22 passes for 200 yards.
“We got better this week” with the signings of Hightower and DuJuan Harris, Lynch wrote on Twitter.
Hightower broke into the NFL in 2008 with the Arizona Cardinals. He had a career-best 10 rushing touchdowns as a rookie.
