That dreaded phrase: “Trap Game.” Hearing that makes you question just about everything going into the week simply because the opponent of the San Francisco 49ers gets underestimated and somehow wins.
Sometimes the 49ers win. Sometimes to the annoyance of fans, they find a way to lose.
Here’s a good example: The Cleveland Browns were without starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, instead stuck with P.J. Walker. For a defense highly regarded like the 49ers, this already looked like it would get ugly for Cleveland before kickoff. It didn’t. Instead, the Browns defense held things down, the 49ers offense shot themselves in the foot with penalties through the game leading to Jake Moody missing a chipshot field goal to end the game.
