K’Waun Williams re-signs with the 49ers on a one-year deal

K’Waun Williams left Kansas City without a deal, which was good news for the 49ers. The Niners, Chiefs, Lions, and Jets were all among teams interested in signing San Francisco’s star slot cornerback. On Wednesday morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Williams is returning to the 49ers on a one-year deal.

Williams does a little bit of everything for the Niners defense. He’s arguably the team’s best blitzer and run defender. With Williams back in the fold, that means the defense has their starting secondary intact: Jason Verrett and Emmanuel Moseley starting on the outside, with Williams in the slot and Jimmie Ward teaming up with Jaquiski Tartt at safety.
