For decades now, quarterback has been the most important position in the NFL — the object of a league-wide obsession and frenzy.
After all, a team’s overall ability can be easily conflated with the ability of the man taking the snaps.
With that being the reality, teams that don’t have adequate quarterback play are willing to move anything and anyone — and to pay anything they can — to get a player who can provide that adequacy.
And teams that already have that quarterback? They’ll do roughly the same thing to keep him, gladly selling the farm to keep the horse.
