The San Francisco 49ers, and Jimmy Garoppolo himself, have signaled that they're splitting up. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch more or less confirmed they're seeking out a trade partner, someone to take on Jimmy G's contract in exchange for a draft pick. Garoppolo gave a final goodbye to Niners fans and media after the 49ers lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC title game. It's Trey Lance time.
But 49ers legend Joe Montana doesn't sound very enthused about the now-rookie, soon-to-be second-year quarterback.
In an interview with Kevin Clark of The Ringer, Montana stated that if it were up to him, he'd keep Garoppolo at the helm next season.
