Justin Smith, the “Cowboy,” has decided to retire from the National Football League and the San Francisco 49ers. He will be dearly missed.
Justin Smith, at 35 years, walked away from the game he has given most of his life to on Monday, after 14 seasons, five Pro Bowls, and 87.5 sacks with the Cincinnati Bengals and 49ers. Smith’s retirement does not come as a surprise or a shock, as he was widely expected to retire earlier in the offseason and, with the additions of Darnell Dockett and Arik Armstead in the draft and free agency, it appeared that the 49ers were planning on moving on as well.
