Carlos Hyde was denied a player of the week honor following his dominant Week 1 performance. It went to a worthy rival, and maybe adds further motivation for Hyde.
The NFL announced their conference player of the week awards, and San Francisco running back Carlos Hyde came up short in his bid for Week 1 NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones took home the honor instead. Aaron Donald was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week and Tavon Austin was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Hyde put together a dominant Week 1 showing, finishing with 168 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries.
