Star wide receivers Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. were each traded away to new teams this offseason, and despite being publicly linked to both, the San Francisco 49ers came away with neither.
During a Friday morning appearance on KNBR’s “Murph & Mac Show,” general manager John Lynch said the 49ers—who have an ostensible need at wide receiver—were in on Beckham, but were never seriously interested in Brown.
“On Odell we were very much in that, we had been in it,” Lynch said. “I think ironically the fact that we had the No. 2 [overall pick in next month’s NFL Draft] made it more difficult because they wanted that badly.
