Joe Montana is back in the Super Bowl. For a commercial. About beer.
We've reach the pre-big game phase, where brands are dropping their advertisements in advance, hoping they'll go viral before kickoff. Montana's ad is with Guinness, which understandably decided to incorporate highlights of Montana's Notre Dame days, given the Irish connection.
Specifically, the one-minute Guinness spot shows clips from the 1979 Cotton Bowl Classic, in which Montana played with the flu in freezing cold temperatures. He reportedly ate chicken soup to get warm, and the Fighting Irish came back to beat the Houston Cougars, so it's now known as the Chicken Soup Game.
