Jarryd Hayne, who captivated the NFL last summer as the 49ers rookie import from Australia, is making a comeback. However, it’s in Australia’s National Rugby League.
Hayne is signing a two-year deal with the NRL’s Gold Coast Titans and earning $1.2 million each season, Australia’s Channel 9 reported. Hayne’s previously NRL team, the Parramatta Eels, has been rocked by off-field and salary-cap scandals in recent months.
After working out in the 49ers’ offseason program for nearly six weeks, Hayne retired in May, citing a desire to play in the Rio Olympics for Fiji’s Rugby Sevens. Hayne did not make the Olympic team, however.
