Defensive tackle Ian Williams is an important, if not critical, piece of a San Francisco 49ers front seven that struggled last season. Williams had 45 tackles last season and brings veteran leadership to a very young team — and an incredibly young defensive line.
Williams’ five year contract, signed in March, became a one-year deal after Williams failed a physical later in the spring. Williams has undergone multiple left ankle surgeries and is currently doing his best to recover and get into shape for the upcoming season.
ESPN expects Williams to still be inactive when the 49ers season begins September 12th as the 49ers host the St.
