Hunter goes on IR, Moody released at final cuts

Running back Kendall Hunter, who struggled in his comeback attempt during 49ers training camp after sustaining a torn ACL in his right knee last summer, was placed on injured reserve on Saturday.

The most surprising development on Saturday was the release of inside linebacker Nick Moody, who started the first two exhibition games and was expected to be a key special-teams contributor.

The Hunter and Moody decisions were two of 17 moves made on Saturday to reduce the 49ers’ roster to the 53-player limit by the 1 p.m. deadline.
