SANTA CLARA – C.J. Beathard’s connection with tight end George Kittle obviously traces to their University of Iowa days, and they came to the 49ers seemingly as a package deal in last year’s draft.
That pairing could be the 49ers’ lifeline for offensive success going forth this season, and especially this week to compensate for injuries at wide receiver.
The Beathard-Kittle bromance certainly kept the 49ers in Sunday’s eventual 29-27 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers. It wasn’t just that Kittle produced a career-high 125 yards on six receptions. It was clear how much Beathard trusts him and knows where to target him.
