SANTA CLARA — Kyle Shanahan said he’s been most impressed by the 49ers ability to cover for injured starters in their path to an 8-0 start, and more such relief may be needed.
Linebacker Kwon Alexander and tight end George Kittle, emotional spark plugs for their respective units, were undergoing MRI exams Friday morning.
Shanahan is “nervous” that Alexander might be lost for the season to a pectoral tear.
