SANTA CLARA — Dante Pettis scored the 49ers’ heroic, game-winning touchdown in Sunday’s home opener and, finally, he wasn’t being overlooked.
Not like the season opener, when he played only two snaps in Tampa. Not like the next game, when he had no passes come his way at Cincinnati.
Pettis did not boast about Sunday’s clutch-time emergence nor do any I-told-you-sos as he stood shirtless at his locker with his eyeblack smeared.
“My man! Hell of a (bleeping) play, man,” wide receivers coach Wes Welker said as he passed Pettis and exited the winning locker room.
