The wait is finally over as the 49ers opened training camp on Friday officially beginning the 2019-20 NFL season. The players take the field for the first practice today at 10:15am PST, and there are still many questions to be answered regarding roster composition and depth chart.
But one thing we know for sure: like it or not, Shanahan and Lynch will have to reduce the number of players on the roster from 90 to 53 by August 31st - just 35 days away, and in doing so make some very difficult decisions.
For the first time in several years, the 49ers have a roster that is deep at several positions, and filled with young, talented players, which is going to make the task more difficult than it has been in the past for Shanahan and Lynch, and there will be several open competitions that will be intriguing for fans to watch over the next few weeks.
