“Heck of a competition”. Those were the words used by Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera when discussing the quarterback competition that the 49ers will be having this training camp. Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick will be competing for the starting job when training camp begins July 30th. The winner of that competition will likely face Rivera’s Panthers in Week 2.
Ron Rivera described both Blaine and Colin as dynamic quarterbacks. He also said both have skill sets that fit nicely with Chip Kelly’s offense.
