The 2017 San Francisco 49ers begin their season this Sunday against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. After a major overhaul in the front office that saw Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch replacing Chip Kelly and Trent Baalke, Shanahan and Lynch made major roster changes. In addition to roster changes, the 49ers are also transitioning their defense to a 4-3, with new defensive coordinator Robert Saleh adapting Seattle’s defense.
Brian Hoyer will lead the 49ers’ new look offense. Other than Carlos Hyde and some on the offensive line, the offense is all new.
