The San Francisco 49ers announced four players will sit out for Sunday's preseason contest against the Dallas Cowboys. The list included defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey, wide receiver Bruce Ellington, defensive back Jimmie Ward and linebacker Philip Wheeler. Dorsey played last week, but dealt with a muscle strain earlier this week. Ward returned to team drills this past week, but clearly the team is working him back slowly. Ellington and Wheeler missed last week's game, and remain sidelined with muscle strains.
The list did not include NaVorro Bowman, Reggie Bush, Vernon Davis, Aaron Lynch or Darnell Dockett. Their respective statuses remain TBD at this point.
