SAN FRANCISCO — Another day, another recall of a player eager to make his major league debut after years in the minor leagues.
Before Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Giants brought up right-hander reliever Sean Coonrod, 26, from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned starter Andrew Suarez.
One day after bringing up Mike Yastrzemski, who had spent seven years in the minor leagues before he made his major league debut Saturday, the Giants, in need of bullpen reinforcements, recalled Coonrod, their fifth round draft pick in 2014 who turned his season around with the River Cats over the last two weeks.
