George Kittle received a huge gift from one of the 49ers’ NFC West rivals

Believe it or not, the 49ers aren’t solely focused on Brock Purdy this offseason when it comes to contract extensions. San Francisco is likely to need to tie down George Kittle to a new deal at some stage to prevent an uncomfortable situation next offseason.

Kittle told Kay Adams during Super Bowl week he believed there had been talks between his representation and the 49ers, and his side gained some significant leverage in those discussions this week.

Indeed, Kittle received a helping hand from a division rival on Thursday, as the Arizona Cardinals signed tight end Trey McBride to a four-year, $76 million extension, paying him an average of $19 million a year, making him the highest-paid tight end in NFL history.
