The San Francisco 49ers turned to rookie fourth-round pick Malik Mustapha in last week’s 30-13 victory over the New England Patriots. Mustapha played in 100% of the Niners' defensive snaps for the first time this season, and he sure got plenty of attention. Mustapha had some highlights and lowlights, landing a pivotal block on linebacker Fred Warner’s pick-six but also dropping an interception. Warner was asked for his impression of the rookie earlier this week, and he was clearly optimistic about his long-term potential.
“Yeah, a lot of great stuff, man,” Warner said about Mustapha’s game.
