Jim Trotter of ESPN reports that former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo is exploring the possibility of putting together a group to purchase the Panthers.
However, Trotter says that DeBartolo will have competition from other potential buyers if he seriously pursues the team.
DeBartolo released the following statement to Rick Stroud regarding his reported interest in the Panthers:
“I am going to respect Jerry Richardson’s wish to not discuss the sale of the Carolina Panthers until after their season is over.”
