New Tennessee Titans general manager Ran Carthon gave a nod to his former Bay Area ties when addressing reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Carthon, a former director of player personnel for the San Francisco 49ers, shared his approach to building a successful team Tuesday and gave a boilerplate answer about the importance of running the ball and playing hard-nosed defense in the winter playoff months. He juxtaposed that style of play with the Golden State Warriors.
"I've always said, and this is my personal philosophy: It’s cute and sexy to play Golden State Warriors football in September and October when the weather is good, but the teams that are playing in January and February are teams that play tough defense and teams that are able to run the ball," Carthon said.
