Former 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks is expected to have sexual battery charges stemming from a 2014 incident reduced to simple battery, sparing him from having to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Under the terms of the plea agreement with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, Brooks will perform community service.
The incident occurred in December 2014 when video surveillance footage showed Brooks groping a young woman after she had been knocked unconscious from a fall. The reduction in charges would mean Brooks no longer has to register as a sex offender, a mandatory lifetime requirement in the original sexual battery charge.
