Former 49er running back joins South Carolina football staff

Marcus Lattimore is back in football.

The former 49ers fourth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft who was plagued by a knee injury is returning to his alma mater to join University of South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp’s coaching staff. According to a report from The State, Lattimore will serve as the director of player development. He will also have a role as the team’s spiritual advisor and chaplain.

“No one knowns how to handle adversity and success as a Gamecock more than Marcus Lattimore,” Muschamp told ESPN. “He could have gone anywhere in the country and decided to stay here.
