Between 2015 and 2017, the San Francisco 49ers boasted few fantasy football options. Perhaps a fringe player, or two, could make up for a reserve option on the back end of a roster or a fill-in slot for a guy on a bye week.
But that was about it.
Everything has now changed under head coach Kyle Shanahan and, perhaps more importantly, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Before Garoppolo assumed starting duties in Week 12 last year, the Niners boasted one of the most inept and underperforming offenses in the NFL. Afterwards, as shown by Niner Noise’s Chris Wilson, no team was better in ending drives with a score:
#49ers with Garoppolo led the #NFL in points-per-drive, even though they had the highest FG-to-TD rate in the league.
