The San Francisco 49ers are out of the postseason, but the NFL marches on. Tonight, the Atlanta Falcons travel to face the Washington Commanders. Neither team has locked up a playoff spot, and a loss would have serious repercussions, given how much time is left in the season.
The Falcons had Kirk Cousins at quarterback (I don’t know about you, but I still couldn’t remember that detail this season), but that’s old news. Rookie Michael Penix Jr. was handed the keys and hasn’t looked too shabby doing it. To be fair, his first game was against the New York Giants, which isn’t that great of a litmus test, but given how difficult this league is for a quarterback’s first year, it wasn’t too bad.
