SANTA CLARA — Safety Eric Reid is again following the lead of his former 49ers teammate Colin Kaepernick and now suing the NFL for collusion as Reid’s own free agency drags on after last week’s draft.
“Our union is aware that Eric Reid and his legal representatives filed a collusion claim, which will be heard through the arbitration process as spelled out in our collective bargaining agreement,” the NFL PLayers Association said in a statement Wednesday morning. “Our union supports Eric and we are considering other legal options to pursue. ”
Reid started 69 of the 70 games he played the past five seasons for the 49ers, who drafted him in the first round of the 2013 draft.
