Former 49ers running back Derek Loville was sentenced to 15 months prison for his role in an international drug trafficking operation, according to Kristina Davis of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Loville, 48, was reportedly a low-level middle-man in a drug distribution network that he later learned extended across the globe. The network — which included 21 others — was eventually busted and indicted in January 2016 for international drug trafficking, sports gambling and money laundering.
The ring was run by Owen Hanson, a 35-year old from Redondo Breach who set up an offshore gambling and drug trafficking empire labeled ODOG Enterprise.
