Safety Eric Reid knows a long-term deal to remain with the 49ers depends on how he fares this season, in his third system in three years.
Earlier this month, the 49ers picked up Reid’s fifth-year option on his rookie contract for 2017 ($5.68 million salary). His long-term security, however, remains in flux.
