On veteran report day, Eric Reid was speaking very much like a player who will suit up for his third season in the National Football League.
The San Francisco 49ers free safety was not shy about proclaiming his squad as a worthy Super Bowl contender in Jim Tomsula’s first season as head coach.
“I kinda like being the underdog,” said Reid, who was asked if players had discussed outside critiques downplaying the team’s chances of being competitive in 2015. “I think we respond well with our back against the wall.”
Reid then took it a step further.
