As Colin Kaepernick awaits an arbitrator’s ruling that could kill his collusion grievance against the NFL, Denver Broncos’ GM John Elway told ESPN on Thursday that he offered the embattled ex-49ers quarterback a contract offer in 2016 and that Kaepernick turned him down.
Elway is currently mulling his options for a backup quarterback for the Broncos, and was asked if Kaepernick was “a viable option.”
“You know what, and I said this a while ago: Colin had his chance to be here,” Elway said. “We offered him a contract. He didn’t take it. As I said in my deposition … he’s had his chance to be here.
