After the San Francisco 49ers use their first-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft (barring any trades for the pick), they won’t have another pick until their fifth-round choice.
This makes the array of college exhibitions leading up to the draft much more important than usual for San Francisco.
The East-West Shrine Bowl should be especially important, given how the players normally have late-round draft statuses. For what it’s worth: Franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo impressed in the Senior Bowl with an MVP performance in 2014.
Shrine matchups aren’t usually up to the caliber that you find during big college games, or even other draft games such as the Senior Bowl (and this game was no different), but there are often players that stand out.
