Shaun Draughn joined the San Francisco 49ers mid-way through the 2015 season before starting six games at running back for a dismal 49ers squad. While Draughn may have had the best statistics of his otherwise-forgettable career, he was certainly not impressive.
That being said, Trent Baalke‘s decision to re-sign Draughn makes sense. This is, after all, very early in the free agency game — teams are allowed to start contacting other teams’ potential free agents on Monday and deals can be signed as of Wednesday. Hence, the 49ers want to keep a potential piece of their puzzle around, for now at least.
